Trails Plan

OVERVIEW

The Trails Plan, a component of the Regional Mobility Plan, is currently under development to address the need for a connected hard surface trail system within and throughout the CRTPA region.  The hard surface trail system is intended to provide a commuting alternative for individuals who seek non-motorized transportation options with emphasis placed on limiting exposure to motor vehicles along the commute. 
The proposed Trails Plan is scheduled for adoption by the CRTPA Board on March 21, 2011.

HISTORY OF PUBLIC INVOLVEMENT

The Trails Plan had its first public meeting on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at the Jack McLean Jr. Community Center in Tallahassee.  This meeting introduced the existing trails network in the region as it exists today to the community for input. 
The second public meeting was held on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at the Leroy Collins Public Library in Tallahassee.  This meeting presented the proposed hard surface trail connections within the region to reflect the input from the community.  Where property could not be identified to connect existing hard surface trails without utilizing the on-road system, roadway improvements were identified to provide dedicated accommodations. 

Upcoming Opportunities for Input
The Trails Plan will be presented to the CRTPA subcommittees and to the CRTPA Board in March for approval.  The CRTPA subcommittee and CRTPA Board Meeting dates, times, and locations are listed below.   Public comment opportunities are provided at the meetings.
