Bicycle & Pedestrian Master Plan

On May 17, 2004, the CRTPA adopted the 2025 Bicycle & Pedestrian Master Plan for Tallahassee and Leon County, the community's first Bicycle & Pedestrian Master Plan.  The development and adoption of this document is an important event.  As the CRTPA region continues to grow, it is imperative that attention is paid to all modes of transportation.  While growth can be sign of a healthy economy, it also puts pressure on transportation networks. Congestion, safety, and connectivity are increasingly important issues for this region. The region needs a transportation network that provides excellent accessibility for all travelers, balancing the needs of motorists with transit riders, bicyclists, and pedestrians.

The Master Plan addresses sidewalks, bicycle lanes, trails, and other facilities and programs for residents and visitors of all ages and abilities. The goal of the Master Plan is to promote a systematic approach to providing safer, more convenient, more attractive, and more extensive bicycle and pedestrian facilities.
